Our Soaps

At Whiff and Flame, every soap is handcrafted with care by the two of us, right here at home in Ravenstonedale. We make small batches using a nourishing base of olive oil, shea butter, and coconut oil, enhanced with additional skin-loving oils and butters such as hemp, cocoa, castor, and more.

Our soaps are designed for gentle, luxurious cleansing. They create a rich, creamy lather, leaving skin feeling soft, comfortable, and pampered. We carefully select essential oils for our core range, with a new ‘Inspired’ range coming later this year using subtle fragrance oils. Each bar is perfect for everyday use, self-care, or as a thoughtful gift.

How Our Cold Process Soaps Are Made

All our soaps are made using the traditional cold process method, a time-honoured technique that allows us to create long-lasting, nourishing bars. We start by carefully measuring and blending our base oils and butters, then gently combine them with a lye solution. This triggers a natural chemical reaction called saponification, turning the oils into soap while retaining their skin-loving properties.

Once mixed, the soap is poured into moulds and left to set. During this stage, we sometimes add swirls, subtle colours, or botanical accents for a beautiful finish. After unmoulding, the soaps are cured for at least six weeks, allowing excess water to evaporate and the bars to harden. This ensures a long-lasting bar with a gentle, luxurious lather that cleanses without drying.

The cold process method also allows us to control every stage of production, maintain high-quality, natural ingredients, and deliver handcrafted soaps that are gentle, beautifully scented, and perfect for moments of everyday indulgence.

Seasonal & Special Editions

Throughout the year, we offer seasonal and special edition soaps, such as Chocolate Orange or Mulled Wine around Christmas. These limited runs bring festive flair to your self-care routine or make a lovely gift for friends and family.
